Job Purpose
The BI Project Manager is responsible for both leading and actively delivering BI-driven reporting initiatives, ensuring that business requirements are effectively translated into scalable, standardised, and high-quality reporting solutions. The role combines project leadership with hands-on contribution across the full lifecycle of BI delivery, from solution design to development, and continuous optimisation.
Acting as a key link between different stakeholder groups, the role ensures that reporting solutions are not only well-designed but also practically built, validated, and deployed to deliver reliable, timely, and actionable insights. A strong focus is placed on data quality, efficiency of build, and usability, enabling accurate and trusted reporting that supports data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
Furthermore, the position drives continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to standardise, simplify, and enhance reporting processes and tools. Through direct involvement in development, optimisation, and performance monitoring, the role ensures that BI-driven reporting solutions evolve to meet changing business needs while maintaining high standards of operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and actively deliver BI-driven reporting initiatives aligned to the future state design, from requirements gathering through to implementation and optimisation.
- Translate stakeholder needs into clear, actionable technical and reporting requirements.
- Define and contribute to the future state of reporting solutions, ensuring alignment with BI strategy, business needs, and evolving data capabilities.
- Identify, propose, and drive future-focused solutions that enhance reporting efficiency, automation, and usability.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data across all reporting outputs.
- Establish and manage operational processes (scheduling, monitoring, validation, issue resolution) of new reporting solutions to ensure stable reporting performance.
- Act as a key link between stakeholders and technical, reporting, and data teams to ensure aligned and efficient delivery.
- Provide expertise in BI tools and data structures, supporting ad-hoc reporting queries and issue resolution.
- Drive adoption of reporting solutions through user enablement, training, and onboarding support.
- Identify opportunities to improve, standardise, and simplify reporting processes and tools.
- Support system upgrades, enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives across BI platforms.
Skills & Competencies
Technical & Analytical
- Strong experience with BI and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx)
- Solid understanding of data models, data flows, and reporting architectures
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
- Strong data quality and validation mindset
- SQL experience/knowledge is an advantage
Project & Delivery
- Proven ability to manage and deliver end-to-end BI/reporting projects
- Strong requirements gathering and documentation skills
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Experience with structured delivery and operational processes
Stakeholder & Communication
- Ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear, concise way
- Collaborative approach across cross-functional teams
