Role Overview:
As the Environmental Sustainability Manager, you will champion CCEP’s sustainability ambition by spearheading transformative efforts in the collection and recycling of plastic bottles and cans across Papua New Guinea. You will establish innovative collection frameworks and foster impactful collaborations with local partners and drive the visionary aspects of the sustainability framework including climate, society and drinks, paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future.
Responsibilities:
- Lead efforts for the collection and recycling of plastic bottles and cans within Papua New Guinea (PNG)
- Collaborate with local recycling partners and collectors to expand recycling collection within Port Moresby including running community collection programs
- Work with recycling partners to establish PET recycling collection in Lae and manage relationships to ensure expansion
- Undertake annual reviews and renegotiate relevant rate increase for contracted parties
- Liaise between suppliers, finance and buyers to ensure accounts are reconciled and invoiced
- Continually review the collection value chain to identify opportunities to reduce cost and increase effectiveness
- Support the leadership team in engaging both internal and external stakeholders on sustainability initiatives with a focus on collection
- Support the work of The Coca-Cola Foundation in local water access initiatives.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in in Environmental Science or related field
- Environmental Knowledge: A strong understanding of sustainability principles, environmental regulations and eco-friendly practices
- Leadership: Inspiring teams to adopt and prioritise sustainability goals
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills to advocate for sustainable practices and engage stakeholders
- Problem Solving: Creative thinking to tackle sustainability challenges and develop innovate solutions
- Project Management: Ability to plan, coordinate and execute sustainability initiatives efficiently
- Data Analysis: Skills to interpret environmental data, monitor progress and measure the impact of initiatives
- Adaptability: Staying updated on emerging trends and technologies in sustainability
- Budgeting: Managing financial resources for sustainable projects effectively
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with sustainability tools such as carbon calculators or energy management systems
