Freya Shields, Field Engineering apprentice, CCEP, 2022-2026

Freya is an exceptional apprentice who combines technical acumen with remarkable drive and resilience. As a Level 3 Food and Drink Maintenance Engineering Apprentice at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, she consistently demonstrates maturity and capability beyond her years.

From the outset, Freya’s eagerness to learn and her ability to adapt quickly have distinguished her. She has excelled across both mechanical and electrical disciplines, confidently diagnosing and resolving complex machinery faults. Her proactive approach and collaborative spirit have made her a trusted contributor during critical breakdowns, working seamlessly alongside senior engineers to restore operations efficiently.

Freya says:

“I’ve always been drawn to hands-on, practical work, which initially sparked my interest in pursuing a career in electrics. The apprenticeship with CCEP was the perfect opportunity to gain real-world experience while earning qualifications. I was drawn to the chance to build both mechanical and electrical engineering experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.”

Abi White, QESH Apprentice

“In March 2020, I applied for the role of a QESH apprentice at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) – QESH stands for quality, environment safety and health. After researching the role and the company, I knew this apprenticeship was for me.”

“Currently, I’m completing a BSc (Hons) Food Science and Technology degree at the University of Lincoln. At the same time, I work from our head office a few times a week. Previously, I was travelling weekly across the UK, visiting different sites and meeting new people. I go to new areas of the country I had never even visited before, mostly up north!”

“Working within the central team at CCEP has given me so many opportunities to talk to people with huge amounts of knowledge and experience. Last summer, I was working at the Sidcup site, where I was exposed to lots of business areas – including the chemistry and microbiology labs – and was walked through the whole manufacturing process of Coca-Cola from beginning to end.”

“I have learnt so much and so many skills since I started, and I have three more years to go. My confidence has grown immensely, as well as my independence. I am so excited for what these next three years will bring me. I would strongly advise anyone to take the chance and apply for an apprenticeship here!”

Fathia Abiola-Ajishafe, Field Sales Apprentice

“I’m currently a first year Field Sales Apprentice at CCEP. My current job role is the sales merchandiser role, in which my responsibilities are driving product visibility, maximising sales, building promotional displays, and building strong relationships with customers within the grocery channel.

At the beginning of sixth form, I had no clue about apprenticeships, and I was quite set on going to university the traditional way. In fact, I had completed the whole UCAS application. However, my two biggest cons of the traditional route were the debt, and lack of experience. Fortunately, one of my teachers introduced me to degree apprenticeships, and I quickly grew to love the concept! Due to this, I was able to research and explore degree apprenticeships, apply, and obtain my current role.

Despite only being an apprentice for a few months at CCEP, I can say that this job has already helped me develop and strengthen my skills to help during and after my apprenticeship. This apprenticeship has also provided so many memorable opportunities, and I cannot wait to see what the next few years at CCEP has in store for me.”

Frequently asked questions

As a sales executive / representative, I act as the key interface between Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) and its customers – offering advice, dealing with issues and introducing them to new products. Sales representatives like myself play a vital role in increasing sales to our existing customers, as well as attracting new customers and helping to meet the company’s overall business targets. Most sales reps are given a specific region to deal with, such as the South-East of England, or a specific product range to sell.

The application process involves four stages – firstly you apply online at the CCEP careers site for the apprenticeship, you are then sent a link to an online gamification assessment. If you are successful at that stage, you are then invited to either a video or telephone interview. The final stage of the process is an assessment centre.

Doing an apprenticeship allows you to earn whilst you learn and provides you with ongoing continuous work experience. It means that at the end of your apprenticeship you will not have any debt or loans to pay back. Also, you have lots of great transferable skills and knowledge to build into your CV.

CCEP welcomes people with a range of qualifications and backgrounds, from those who have studied Maths or Science to those who have a passion for English or Design. Other skills that all the roles require include problem solving, the ability to work in a team and dealing confidently with people. But remember, as this is an apprenticeship, it will teach you technical and practical skills as well.

After your program ends

Completing an apprenticeship at CCEP is more than just the start of a career, it's the beginning of a world of possibilities. Upon successful completion of their programme, apprentices have the opportunity to secure a permanent role within their chosen career path. In fact, 90% of our apprentices choose to continue their journey with us, building rewarding and successful careers at CCEP. Others go on to pursue higher education full-time, taking with them valuable workplace experience, practical skills, and a deeper understanding of the opportunities that lie ahead.

Continued development

An apprenticeship at CCEP is just the first step in a journey of lifelong learning and career progression. We are committed to helping our apprentices reach their full potential by investing in their development long after their programme ends. Through degree apprenticeships with our university partners, apprentices can continue to enhance their skills and qualifications in areas such as Engineering, Supply Chain Management, and Business Management, preparing them for exciting future opportunities and leadership roles within CCEP. As well as the internal programme development opportunities through our Career Hub Learning platform
